AGC Member Honored for “Keeping the Promise”: Hensel Phelps Construction Co. receives Top Honors in support of DVBE
LOS ANGELES – At a two-day event, AGC of California and its members gathered at the 2011 KEEPING THE PROMISE EXPO at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott. Hosted by the California Disabled Veterans’ Business Alliance, the exposition offered an insightful gathering, connecting corporate and government professionals with qualified, competitive, and certified disabled veteran businesses.
In honor of returning active duty service men and women, a special gala reception and dinner was held Monday evening. There, AGC member firm Hensel Phelps Construction Co., received Top Honors for Contractor Support of DVBEs. Hensel Phelps was given recognition for consistently demonstrating its commitment to the growth and development of California Small Business Enterprises (SBE) and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE), and has provided valuable assistance in small business communities to help strengthen the local economy and create new business opportunities.
Hensel Phelps Executive Vice President, Wayne Lindholm was present to accept the award and thanked the Alliance. “Thanks to the DVBE Alliance for this recognition, but I have to say what Hensel Phelps has done to receive this pales in comparison to the sacrifices of the men and women in our armed forces,” stated Lindholm.
Lindholm noted construction manager Ron Mitchell as the company’s champion, helping DVBE firms with their contracts, bonding, labor force and successful completion of their contracts and subsequent projects; and has overseen the program for several years. Both Ron and Stephen Friar, Project Development Manager, were on hand to help celebrate the achievement on behalf of the company.
The exposition wrapped up sessions today, but the promise continues. AGC congratulates Hensel Phelps for their recognized efforts to promote and improve the DVBE partnerships within the industry.
AGC of California and the California DVBE Alliance joined forces in March of this year to increase the professional status of DVBE Contractors. DVBEs that join AGC and the Alliance are viewed as team players in a field with millions in contract dollars for Primes and DVBEs. The Alliance encourages its contractor members to join AGC to boost their business. For more information on the California DVBE Alliance, visit www.cadvbe.org
